Our Story
In the north of Regina, there was a quaint little place called Rubi’s Kitchen. It was a cozy spot where the delicious smell of home cooking was always in the air. Rubi, the heart and soul of this kitchen, was famous for her ability to transform simple ingredients into amazing dishes.
Rubi’s Kitchen became a beloved spot among locals, known for its warm meals and welcoming atmosphere. Despite its small size, it was always full of life and laughter. Rubi and her team put their heart into every meal they made, creating a special bond with their customers.
As Rubi’s reputation grew, so did the number of her customers. Eventually, she expanded and created Al-Buraq, a larger place that carried the spirit of Rubi’s Kitchen but with new, creative twists. Al-Buraq wasn’t just a restaurant; it was a celebration of Rubi’s journey, her dedication to food, and the joy of sharing great meals with great company.
In 2020, a new chapter unfolded in the heart of Regina at 539 Victoria Ave E. The beloved Rubi’s Kitchen, a cherished local eatery, underwent a transformation. It was reborn as Al-Buraq, a name that promised new beginnings while honoring its rich past.
The transition wasn’t just a change of name; it was a leap of faith and a vision for the future. Rubi, the soul behind Rubi’s Kitchen, wanted to bring a fresh perspective to her culinary art. Al-Buraq retained the essence of Rubi’s Kitchen – the warm hospitality and the delectable home-cooked flavors – but it introduced an innovative twist to the menu, blending traditional recipes with modern culinary techniques.
The local community, who had adored Rubi’s Kitchen, watched with anticipation. When Al-Buraq opened its doors, it was met with an outpouring of support. Patrons old and new were captivated by the familiar, yet enhanced, dining experience.
Al-Buraq soon became a symbol of resilience and growth in Regina’s culinary scene. In 2022, we proudly expanded our culinary journey with the opening of Zaitoon, our new grocery shop. Zaitoon is dedicated to bringing you the best in authentic desi products and halal meats.
